Pizza Ingredients

Everyone has their favourite pizza, but everyone’s favourite is when it’s fresh out of the oven. To enjoy that at home, you need to make it yourself and for that you need a few simple pizza ingredients.

Which ingredients for pizza?

The foundation is of course: the dough, made from fine 00 flour, water, yeast, and salt.

Then there’s the sauce, traditionally tomato-based. Cheese is a quintessential ingredient, with mozzarella being the classic choice for its creamy, melty texture.

Parmesan can also be added to provide more depth of flavour, or you can reach for any number of other cheeses – blue, rind-washed, goat, feta, cheddar, all of the above – depending on how cheesy you like it.

Toppings vary widely – or even wildly – and allow both kids and adults to get creative. Classic choices include pepperoni, mushrooms, chillies and olives, but there’s very little that doesn’t work on a pizza.

Ham and pineapple may be divisive, but stick a bit of chilli on it and even the most die-hard Hawaiian-hater can be converted.
