French Olive Oil

Olive oil is a staple in many kitchens around the world, and it's not hard to see why. And, olive oil from France is something special. From its unique flavour and aroma to its versatile culinary uses, French olive oil is truly a one-of-a-kind product.

Olive oil production in France dates back centuries, and has been an integral part of French culture for many generations. While France is better known for its wine-making than olive oil production, the country is actually home to some of the best quality olive oils in the world. Olive oil production in France began around 800 BC, during the Iron Age. The first known records of olive oil production come from Provence, where many small farms have been producing high-quality extra-virgin olive oil since then.

From the 16th century onwards, production of olive oil in France became more organized and commercialized, with presses and mills being built in order to produce higher volumes of oil. Today, there are still many small-scale farmers producing high-quality extra-virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
