Organic gomashio is a punchy Japanese condiment made with roasted black sesame seeds and salt. Used as a finishing flourish, it will add a rich, nutty flavour and hit of salt to your dish. The name gomashio comes from the Japanese words goma, which means sesame, and shio which means salt. In Japan, it’s often sprinkled over steamed rice and onigiri (rice balls wrapped in nori).

Gomashio is an instant flavour boost for all kinds of Asian dishes. You can add it to marinades, salad dressings and breadcrumbs for katsu and other fried foods. It has a salty, savoury flavour so a little goes a long way. Try sprinkling it over root vegetable soups, cold noodle salads and steamed fish.
