Sourhouse Starter Jar, Quart
Description
This stylish sourdough starter jar is the perfect home for a healthy, active sourdough starter. Made from durable borosilicate glass, the jar has straight sides and a flat bottom for easy cleaning and mixing. The transparent glass allows you to check on your starter at a glance to monitor its rise.
The jar comes with a soft silicone lid that grips the sides of the jar to keep any contaminants out. The lid has grooves on the inside to help the gas escape from your starter. Each jar also includes a gold silicone marking band.
Sourdough starter jars are available in two sizes: pint and quart. On the sides of the pint size jar are dots in 50ml and 100ml increments so you can judge when your starter has doubled in size. The quart jar has 100ml and 200ml dots for keen bakers who like to keep larger starters.
This jar is designed to be used with Goldie by Sourhouse, an innovative sourdough starter warming device. The warming base keeps your starter in the ‘Goldilocks Zone’ of 24-28ºC for a faster, more consistent rise. Cooling pucks are also available for hot days when your starter gets too warm.
Hand washing is recommended to preserve the markings on the jar. Use silicone or wooden utensils to avoid scratching the glass.
