Fleur de sel de Guérande is a hand-harvested finishing salt, skimmed off the surface of the 2,000 hectare salt marshes between the Loire and Vilaine rivers – recent recipient of a ‘site of remarkable taste’ award. Fleur de sel de Guérande is one of the best-known varieties of fleur de sels, renowned for its big mineral flavours, and remarkably sweet finish.
Fleur de sel de Guérande should not be added to dishes during cooking. This is a salt for the dining room, not for the kitchen. To fully appreciate the crisp texture, and big flavours, use a pinch of the fleur de sel de Guérande over heirloom tomatoes, grilled fish, steaks and even hot buttered toast.
