Description

DeOrtegas Coupage EVOO ECO is a blend of four olive varieties, all grown on the same family farms in Yecla, Murcia. Arbequina, Picual, Cornicabra and Hojiblanca are picked early, straight from the tree, and pressed within six hours. It's why the oil smells so fresh; green leaves, green tomato, a trace of banana underneath. Pour a little into a bowl and the colour is a deep, medium green. Taste it on its own and the four varieties blend smoothly, with no single one taking over.

  • Blend of four varieties: Arbequina, Picual, Cornicabra, Hojiblanca
  • Cold-pressed below 27°C, then filtered
  • Low acidity: just 0.2% oleic acid

Use it the way the family does at home - drizzled raw over salads and grilled fish, stirred into sauces, or used for frying meat and vegetables. It holds its own in soups and stews too, and sits nicely alongside anchovies if that's your idea of a good starter.

DeOrtegas is a family-run mill in Murcia, started in 2008 by Marcelo and Rafaela Ortega after 30 years of growing olives organically. They handle everything themselves, from the 170 hectares and 33,000 trees across three farms, right through to pressing and bottling. Nothing goes to waste along the way — the pulp and leaves get composted, and the olive pits are burned as fuel.
