African hibiscus syrup will change the way you look at syrup forever. It’s made with African hibiscus flowers that give a naturally deep pink colour to the syrup, as well as citrus-like tartness. A blend of spices adds layers of flavour.

The result is a syrup that somehow feels ‘grown up’. It’s sharp and sweet, but with unique savoury notes from black pepper and cloves. The ginger adds a touch of heat, and cinnamon gives the syrup warmth and depth.

African hibiscus syrup is the perfect foil for rich and creamy yoghurt, vanilla ice cream or cheesecake. It also goes well with bitter dark chocolate – use it as ingredient for a fondant filling in homemade chocolates, or drizzle over an indulgent dark chocolate mousse.

The hibiscus syrup is a versatile ingredient in drinks, too. Experiment with the syrup in cocktails, or even in smoothies or milkshakes. Dilute the syrup with hot water for a soothing ‘tea’, or blend with ice to make a refreshing summer cooler.

Bim’s Kitchen are a small family business based in Wales. Husband and wife team James ‘Bim’ and Nicola Adedeji hand make all their condiments, sauces and spreads in small batches. They use a range of unique ingredients to bring authentic African flavours to the UK.
