Griottines (15%), 1 litre

Description

Griottines are world-famous wild Morello cherries in alcohol. The Morello cherries are hand-picked then stoned and macerated in alcohol for six months. The final Griottines are beautifully soft with a sweet-sour flavour, and are an ideal garnish for cocktails and desserts.

The Griottines are not just for sweet dishes – their sharp, fruity flavour works wonders with savoury dishes as well. Use in a cherry sauce to go with duck, or add to the stuffing mixture for a veal roulade. Top whipped ricotta or mascarpone canapes with a single cherry for a burst of flavour, or even serve with Serrano ham and melon balls for a twist on this classic starter.

Griottines have been the flagship product of the Grandes Distilleries Peureux since 1980. They use a specific variety of Morello cherries called Oblachinska, which only grow in the Balkans. Over 500 million of these cherries are hand harvested in just three weeks, then sent to Fougerolles in eastern France where they’re turned into the renowned Griottines.

Ingredients: Morello cherries (53%), sugar, alcohol (of which Kirsch 10%). Contains alcohol at 15% ABV.
