Description

The Silverwood Bakeware Silver Anodised Deep Fluted Flan with Loose Base is made for deep quiches, fruit tarts, custard flans, a lemon tart with a clean crimped edge.

It gives you room for a generous filling, while the loose base helps you lift everything out without that tense moment of trying to prise pastry from the tin.

Handmade in Birmingham by Alan Silverwood, this flan tin is made from silver anodised aluminium. It is uncoated, so there is no chemical non-stick layer to peel or blister. Instead, the surface hardens through anodising and builds a natural patina with use.

  • Handmade in Birmingham, England
  • Silver anodised aluminium for even heat
  • Loose base for easier release
  • Deep fluted sides for filled tarts
  • Uncoated surface develops natural patina

The aluminium conducts heat well, helping pastry bases brown evenly rather than staying pale in the middle. It also feels rigid without being heavy, which is useful when you are carrying a full quiche to the oven.

Meet the maker: Silverwood Bakeware

Silverwood bakeware is handmade in Birmingham, England, where they have been making tins since the 1960s.

Silverwood’s anodised aluminium also has a naturally easy-release surface that improves with use. A light grease is still wise, especially for sticky bakes, but this is not a coated tin that flakes or peels. It is strong, light to handle, and made to be used often.

A great choice for anyone avoiding PTFE or PFOA coatings.
