Spice up your ‘seacuterie’ board with Sea Sisters Norfolk whelks. They’re preserved in extra virgin olive oil infused with chilli and garlic. The bold flavours transform the taste of this British seaside snack. 

Serve them with crusty bread to mop up the flavoursome oil. They’re a great addition to snack platters with olives, crisps and nuts. You can also toss them with fried rice or add them to an omelette.

Whelks are a type of sea snail with a firm, springy texture. The umami-rich flavours of chilli and garlic complement their sweet, briny taste.

95% of local whelks are transported to other countries. In Korea, whelks are the key ingredient in golbaengi-muchim. This spicy cold noodle dish is particularly satisfying on a hot day.
