Description
Serve umami-rich broths in the nishikigoi ramen bowl. With deep sides and a sturdy base, it’s perfect for soup and noodle dishes. You can also use it for donburi (Japanese rice bowls).
The bowl is decorated with white and orange koi. The colourful fish pop against the bowl’s dark blue background. It resembles the deep water of a lake or pond.
Fill the bowl with a rich broth that’s been simmering for hours. Then, add bouncy noodles, chashu pork and a soft-boiled egg.
Colourful koi (Japanese carp) were once kept by Japanese nobility in ornamental ponds. They are known as ‘living jewels’, thanks to their beautiful patterns and vibrant colours.
