Description

Nice Cans Sardines in Tomatoes Peppers bring together meaty, wild-caught sardines and a bright peperonata sauce. Sweet tomato and smoked roasted peppers come first, followed by garlic, oregano and a gentle vinegar tang. Organic olive oil gives the sauce a silky richness worth mopping up with bread.

  • Wild-caught Sardina pilchardus, hand-packed in Portugal
  • Sweet tomato with smoky roasted peppers
  • Twenty grams of protein per tin
  • MSC-certified fish from responsibly managed fisheries

Serve the whole tin over hot toast, perhaps with a sharp green salad alongside. It also works beautifully stirred through warm pasta or grains, where the peppery tomato oil coats every bite. The 120g tin is fully recyclable, with an FSC-certified paper sleeve.

Meet the maker: Nice Cans

Based in Ontario, Nice Cans works with tinned seafood specialists in Portugal. The sardines come in three recipes: rosemary and sweet, aniseed fennel; tomato and peppers with a bright touch of apple cider vinegar; and smoked sardines in organic olive oil with sea salt.

Open a tin for toast, salads or warm dishes. Or place it on the table with good bread and let everyone help themselves. Each recipe is made to complement the sardines rather than hide their natural flavour.

Charlotte takes sourcing seriously too. Nice Cans uses MSC- or ASC-certified seafood from responsible fisheries, with recyclable tins and FSC-certified cardboard where used. It is playful food with sound decisions behind it.
