Description

Meet the Sous Chef ARC Edge Kitchen Knife Trio. If you are building your knife collection from scratch, these are the three knives we recommend.

You have a full-sized Chef’s Knife for larger chopping jobs, a compact Bunka for smaller and more precise work, and a long serrated Bread Knife for loaves and cakes. Between them, they cover almost every normal kitchen task without filling your drawer with knives you rarely use.

  • 20cm Chef’s Knife: a classic everyday workhorse, with a curved cutting edge for smooth rock-chopping and a narrow tip for scoring
  • 15cm Bunka Knife: a compact, agile everyday knife for chopping, slicing, trimming and more precise work
  • 25.5cm Bread Knife: a long serrated blade for slicing sourdough, baguettes, brioche, focaccia and cakes without crushing them

Unless you later need a specialist knife for filleting or boning, this trio is likely to be all you need.

Bought as a trio, the knives cost £235 rather than £287 separately, saving £52.

What makes ARC Edge such a brilliant knife range?

  • Powdered steel cores hold remarkably sharp edges
  • 73-layer Damascus steel outer layers give the blades strength and their distinctive rippling pattern
  • Beautifully balanced pakkawood handles feel comfortable and controlled
  • Curved bolsters sit smoothly against your fingers
  • Three complementary blade lengths give you the right amount of knife for each job

Sharp, strong and beautiful

Steel is an alloy, primarily made from iron and carbon, and its performance depends on how those elements are combined. Powdering the steel allows them to be blended extremely evenly, creating blades that are strong and capable of holding a very fine edge.

We’ve surrounded each powdered steel core with 73 layers of Damascus steel. The rippling pattern makes the knives beautiful enough to display, although these are very much working knives: designed to be taken down and used every day.

Joy guaranteed – no-question returns within 30 days

Buying knives without holding them first can feel like a leap of faith. So if you use them and decide they aren’t for you, you’re welcome to return them within 30 days of purchase. No awkward conversations. Just a straightforward refund. Joy guaranteed.

How to care for your knives

Handwash the knives in warm, soapy water with a soft sponge, then dry them straight away. Store carefully to protect their edges. Not dishwasher safe. Do not use the Chef’s Knife or Bunka to cut bones or frozen food.

When the Chef’s Knife or Bunka can no longer cut easily through the skin of a tomato, it is time to sharpen. Find everything you need to know about how to care for your kitchen knives.

The serrated Bread Knife should not be sharpened on a flat whetstone. Its individual serrations require a suitable specialist tool or professional sharpener.

About Sous Chef ARC Edge Knives

Over the years, we’ve stocked some exceptional knives from makers around the world. Blades with real heritage behind them. Knives we were proud to recommend.

But we found ourselves wondering: if we created our own knives, shaped by everything we’ve learned through decades of buying, testing and cooking, what would people actually want from them? So we asked our customers. Their answers were thoughtful and remarkably consistent:

  • You didn’t want to be forced into buying a large set filled with knives you would rarely use.
  • You wanted the essential blade shapes: the knives you would genuinely reach for.
  • And you were clear about price. Superb materials and performance, without paying simply for a famous name.

The ARC Edge range is the result: four useful knife shapes, available individually and in sets chosen around the way people actually cook.

Because we work directly with the maker, we can offer these superb-quality knives at a fabulous price. Compared with well-known knives of a similar quality, you save up to 45%.

Is this the right set for you?

Choose this trio if you are starting from scratch, replacing a collection of tired knives or buying a substantial gift for someone setting up a new kitchen.
