Mill & Mortar IGP Penja Black Peppercorn, 50g

Penja black pepper has a fresh, spicy aroma. Grind it to a fine powder to sprinkle over eggs, braised meat dishes and creamy goat’s cheese.

This IGP certified pepper is grown in the Penja Valley in Cameroon. This area has a unique microclimate and mineral-rich volcanic soil. This is what gives Penja pepper its powerful, complex flavour.

Penja pepper is regarded as one of the best peppers in the world. You can use the peppercorns whole or grind them in a mortar or grinder. Expect powerful aromas of leather and camphor.

Penja pepper has a strong, warming flavour. It’s fantastic with strong meats like lamb, beef and goat. Add a few peppercorns to stews and braised dishes.

The tangy, peppery notes also complement egg and potato dishes. Add a pinch of ground Penja pepper to omelettes and mashed potato.

This potent pepper is also delicious with fruit. Try sprinkling it over roasted peaches or pears cooked in sweet syrup.

Store in an airtight container in a dark, dry place.
