The Spring Oven, Plain Terracotta
Description
With the Spring Oven, you can bake artisan quality bread at home using the power of steam. Whether you’re a sourdough pro or starting out with simple loaves, this is the ideal baking vessel for you.
What is the Spring Oven?
Designed and developed in Britain, the Spring Oven is a terracotta ovenware pot for baking bread with the use of steam. Baking with steam helps your dough rise and develop a crunchy crust, but it’s not always easy to create a suitably humid environment in a conventional oven. The Spring Oven solves that problem with a water channel in the base that generates steam while you bake. The sloping lid focuses heat close to your bread and also allows condensed water to run back into the channel.
How is the Spring Oven made?
Each Spring Oven is handmade from high-fired, locally sourced terracotta using a traditional ceramic slip-casting process. The slip-casting procedure requires time, focused attention and skill to produce a professional finish. The result is a clay vessel that radiates even heat and looks beautiful on display in your kitchen.
