The Chocolate Detective’s ‘partridge in a pear tree’ eggs are a festive delight. They’re inspired by ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’, a popular English carol. 

Inside the box are 10 eggs and two pear-shaped chocolates. Wrapped in gold foil, the pears are filled with pear liqueur. The eggs resemble real partridge eggs with colourful speckled shells.

The crisp sugar shells hide a sweet surprise. Inside, you’ll find layers of milk and dark chocolate. Five eggs have a salted caramel centre. The other five are filled with hazelnut praline.

The eggs are made in France using bean-to-bar couverture. The ethically produced cocoa comes from a large farm in Ecuador.

The recyclable boxes feature colourful bird illustrations. The artwork is by British artist and illustrator Madeleine Floyd.

She writes, “The Red-Legged Partridge was first introduced to Britain from France in the late seventeenth century. He is a sociable bird and enjoys the company of family and friends.”
