Description

A good saucepan should respond when you need it to. Turn the heat up and it should heat quickly. Turn it down and it should stop racing ahead.

That is exactly what ARC Core Saucepan is designed to do.

The saucepan has a tri-ply construction with an aluminium core running through both the base and the sides, sandwiched between stainless steel.

Aluminium conducts heat quickly, so the pan heats evenly and responds rapidly when you adjust the hob.

Kristin, our cookware specialist, particularly likes this responsiveness for caramel: "when you need to stop the cooking quickly, the pan reacts rather than holding on to heat for too long."

What makes ARC Core a brilliant stainless steel saucepan?

  • Tri-ply construction with an aluminium core through the base and sides
  • Fast, even heat distribution across the whole pan
  • All-round pouring rim helps liquids pour cleanly without running down the outside
  • Durable stainless steel lid
  • Riveted stainless steel handle for long-term strength
  • Y-shaped handle helps reduce heat transfer towards the grip
  • Works on all hobs including induction

Use the ARC Core saucepan for sauces, grains, vegetables, soups, custards and reductions.

It really comes into its own when you are cooking something temperature-sensitive. The aluminium core means the pan responds quickly when you raise or lower the heat, so you have more control over caramel, sugar syrups, milk-based sauces or anything that can move from perfect to overcooked surprisingly fast.

The rolled pouring rim runs around the entire pan, so sauces and liquids leave the pan cleanly instead of clinging to the edge and dripping down the sides.

A handle made for proper cooking

The riveted stainless steel handle is fixed to the pan with a Y-shaped attachment. That small gap between pan and handle helps reduce heat transfer, keeping the grip cooler for longer during normal hob cooking.

The handle itself is flatter than many domestic pan handles, with a shallow groove that gives your thumb somewhere to sit. Kristin specifically wanted that secure shape because it is easier to grip with wet hands, and much safer to hold through a tea towel or oven glove if the pan has been in the oven.

How to clean your ARC Core saucepan

While the pan is still warm, remove any food, add water and let it loosen the cooked-on residue in much the same way you would deglaze a pan.

For stubborn marks, stainless steel can take a proper scrub. Kristin uses products such as Bar Keepers Friend or The Pink Stuff with a suitable scrubber when needed. Minor cosmetic scratches may appear over time, but they do not affect performance.
