Description

The Silverwood Silver Anodised Round Sandwich Tin with Loose Base is handmade in Birmingham from silver anodised aluminium, with a loose base that lets you lift soft cakes out without turning them upside down.

The metal heats quickly and spreads heat evenly, which helps sponge cakes bake through without the edges catching too soon. It is especially good for Victoria sponge, layered celebration cakes, sponge bases, and any recipe asking for an 8 inch sandwich tin.

  • Handmade in Birmingham, England
  • Silver anodised aluminium, no peeling coating
  • Loose base for easier cake release
  • Even heat for reliable sponge baking
  • Develops natural non-stick patina with use

Grease and line it, especially while it is new. Over time, the anodised surface builds its own natural non-stick patina, which is one of the reasons bakers tend to keep Silverwood tins for years rather than replace them every few seasons.

Hand wash only in warm soapy water, then dry well before storing. Treat it well and it becomes one of those useful kitchen pieces that lives near the front of the cupboard.

Meet the maker: Silverwood Bakeware

Silverwood bakeware is handmade in Birmingham, England, where they have been making tins since the 1960s.

Silverwood’s anodised aluminium also has a naturally easy-release surface that improves with use. A light grease is still wise, especially for sticky bakes, but this is not a coated tin that flakes or peels. It is strong, light to handle, and made to be used often.

A great choice for anyone avoiding PTFE or PFOA coatings.
