Description

The Silverwood Roulade & Swiss Roll Tin is made for thin, even sponges that roll incredibly easily. It is made from extremely conductive anodised aluminium in Birmingham, England.

Silverwood leave their bakeware uncoated - with no PTFE non-stick layer. Instead, the aluminium is anodised, which hardens and seals the surface. With use, and with a little greasing, it becomes increasingly non-stick.

  • Handmade in Birmingham, England
  • Anodised aluminium for even heat spread
  • Shallow rim for roulades and sponges
  • Uncoated surface, no PTFE layer
  • Hand wash only, dry thoroughly

The 13 x 9 inch size is useful beyond Swiss rolls too. Use it for meringue sheets, biscuit bars, thin sponge layers, cookies, or a small tray of roasted vegetables. It feels rigid in the hand, not flimsy, and it will not peel like a coated tin can.

Grease before use, line when baking delicate cakes, and avoid sharp knives on the surface. Wash by hand in warm soapy water, then dry well. Over time the silver finish may darken a little. That is normal, and usually a sign the tin has earned its place in the cupboard.

Meet the maker: Silverwood Bakeware

Silverwood bakeware is handmade in Birmingham, England, where they have been making tins since the 1960s.

Silverwood’s anodised aluminium also has a naturally easy-release surface that improves with use. A light grease is still wise, especially for sticky bakes, but this is not a coated tin that flakes or peels. It is strong, light to handle, and made to be used often.

A great choice for anyone avoiding PTFE or PFOA coatings.
