Description
Barnacle Foods sweet and smoky rub is made from Alaskan kelp. The sustainably sourced seaweed is mixed with salt, sugar and spices. You can sprinkle it over popcorn or rub it into meat and fish before cooking.
This rub is inspired by the flavours of the Alaskan coast. There’s warm heat from smoked paprika and savoury notes from dried onion and garlic. Mix it with a little oil to marinade prawns and firm fleshed fish. It’s great with chicken and vegetables, too.
For this rub, Barnacle Foods teamed up with Crystal Worl. Crystal is the co-founder of Trickster Co, an Indigenous-owned design company. The label depicts salmon, bears and ravens in the Northwest Coast formline art style. This art form dates back nearly 4,000 years.
The rub is inspired by the flavours and traditions of the Alaskan Coast. The sweet, smoky flavour brings to mind smokehouses and bonfires on the beach. For best results, use a generous layer of seasoning to coat your meat or fish. It’s perfect for grilling and barbecuing.
