Description

Apicoltura Cazzola Strawberry Tree Honey is not your ordinary honey. This is Miele di Corbezzolo, the famous bitter honey of Sardinia, made from the blossoms of the strawberry tree. It is dark amber, dense, herbal, and lingering, with that grown-up bitterness that makes you pause after the first spoonful.

  • Rare Sardinian strawberry tree blossom honey
  • Raw, whole virgin, unpasteurised honey
  • Dark amber with a dense texture
  • Bitter, herbal, resinous, and persistent
  • Made by family-run Apicoltura Cazzola

Try a small spoonful with ricotta, robiola, cream cheese, or good butter on warm toast. It is also brilliant where fat needs a bitter edge: stirred into a dressing, brushed into a marinade, or drizzled over a dairy dessert.

Meet the maker: Apicoltura Cazzola

Apicoltura Cazzola is a nomadic beekeeping producer in the Bologna area of Emilia-Romagna. The beekeepers move their 300+ hives with the seasons and the flowering. It is a very direct way of following the landscape. When the flowers change, the honey changes too. Meanwhile, the honey is left as natural as possible - it isn't heat treated for example. Apicoltura's mantra is simple, and rather lovely: “Why change what nature has already made perfectly.”

The range is wide; explore the different flavours of acacia, citrus, chestnut, cherry, dandelion or linden honey for example.

We love this range, because there is real pleasure in having a few different honeys open at home. One for toast. One for cheese. One for yoghurt. One that ends up being tasted from the spoon, or stirred into a hot drink.
