Apicoltura Cazzola Honeycomb, 100g
Description
Apicoltura Cazzola Honeycomb is honey in one of its most direct forms: still held in the wax comb, ready to cut, spread, chew, or place on a cheese board. The honey comes from an Italian beekeeping family near Bologna, where Apicoltura Cazzola works with raw virgin honey and avoids heat treatment, so the flavour stays close to what the bees made.
The pleasure here is partly texture. Slice into the comb and the honey runs out slowly. Eat it with bread and you get that soft burst of sweetness, followed by the gentle chew of natural wax. It feels more like serving an ingredient than opening a sweetener.
- Italian honey held in natural wax comb
- Raw virgin honey from Apicoltura Cazzola
- Made by beekeepers near Bologna
- Soft honey with a gentle waxy chew
- No added ingredients, just honeycomb
Serve a small square with aged cheese, ricotta, warm toast, yoghurt, or fruit. It is also lovely placed whole on a board with nuts and bread, so people can cut their own piece.
Meet the maker: Apicoltura Cazzola
Apicoltura Cazzola is a nomadic beekeeping producer in the Bologna area of Emilia-Romagna. The beekeepers move their 300+ hives with the seasons and the flowering. It is a very direct way of following the landscape. When the flowers change, the honey changes too. Meanwhile, the honey is left as natural as possible - it isn't heat treated for example. Apicoltura's mantra is simple, and rather lovely: “Why change what nature has already made perfectly.”
The range is wide; explore the different flavours of acacia, citrus, chestnut, cherry, dandelion or linden honey for example.
We love this range, because there is real pleasure in having a few different honeys open at home. One for toast. One for cheese. One for yoghurt. One that ends up being tasted from the spoon, or stirred into a hot drink.
