Description

Apicoltura Cazzola Acacia Honey is a 100% Italian acacia honey from Emilia-Romagna, made by a family beekeeping business near Bologna. It is pale straw-yellow, runny, and gentle enough to sweeten without taking over. I like this kind of honey when I want sweetness, but not a big honey flavour shouting through the cup.

  • Italian acacia honey from near Bologna
  • Light straw-yellow colour and liquid texture
  • Delicate sweetness with faint floral notes
  • Hints of vanilla and sugared almond
  • Raw honey, not heat treated

Acacia honey has a low tendency to crystallise, so it stays pourable for longer than many other honeys. That makes it lovely for tea, herbal infusions, yogurt, ricotta, porridge, or a simple slice of buttered toast.

Meet the maker: Apicoltura Cazzola

Apicoltura Cazzola is a nomadic beekeeping producer in the Bologna area of Emilia-Romagna. The beekeepers move their 300+ hives with the seasons and the flowering. It is a very direct way of following the landscape. When the flowers change, the honey changes too. Meanwhile, the honey is left as natural as possible - it isn't heat treated for example. Apicoltura's mantra is simple, and rather lovely: “Why change what nature has already made perfectly.”

The range is wide; explore the different flavours of acacia, citrus, chestnut, cherry, dandelion or linden honey for example.

We love this range, because there is real pleasure in having a few different honeys open at home. One for toast. One for cheese. One for yoghurt. One that ends up being tasted from the spoon, or stirred into a hot drink.
