A Japanese stir fry dish that originated in the 1930s, yakisoba or ‘fried noodle’ consists of medium-thick soba noodles stir fried in sweet-and-savoury sauce. This sauce is typically made with soy sauce, vinegar, tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce, which provide the distinctive umami-sweet balance of flavours.

Instructions for use: 

  1. Cook noodles in boiling water for 1 minute, drain well and set aside. 
  2. Stir fry meat and add your favourite vegetables until cooked. 
  3. Put the noodles back in the pan, stir through the sauce, and cook for a further minute.
