Cooked red adzuki beans are a popular filling for Japanese mochi – marshmallow-like sweets made with glutinous rice flour – and dorayaki – sweet pancake sandwiches. The cooked red beans are already sweetened with a little sugar, so just drain and crush into a paste for an instant dessert filling. You can also use the cooked adzuki beans for oshiruko – a warm, sweet ‘soup’ or porridge made with crushed red beans and topped with plain mochi or chestnuts.

Ingredients: sugar, adzuki beans (20.7%), corn flour, salt. Once opened, transfer to an airtight container and keep refrigerated. Consume as soon as possible after opening.
