BBQ Flavour Japanese White Maitiew Binchotan Charcoal, 5kg

Description

Binchotan White Maitew charcoal is traditionally used in Japanese barbecues. It has a very high carbon percentage (96-98%) and no chemicals are added during the production process. Because of this, it burns cleanly and evenly for up to six hours.

Binchotan charcoal is smokeless and odourless so it won’t overwhelm the flavours of your food. For this reason, it is ideal for preserving the complex, delicate flavours of Japanese cuisine. Unlike  other types of charcoal, it can be relit 2-3 times. Fire up the grill and use this superior charcoal to cook fish and seafood, slices of aubergine marinated in miso and Yakitori (Japanese chicken skewers)

Binchotan charcoal can be used on conventional barbecues and Shichirin tabletop grills.

How to light Binchotan charcoal:

Use a gas burner, which takes about 15 minutes. Alternatively, first make a burning bed of softer charcoal, such as Acacia charcoal. Place the Binchotan coals diagonally on the charcoal bed and let them burn.
