Flamigni’s orange & dark chocolate panettone is a luxurious new take on this traditional Italian Christmas bread. Pieces of candied orange peel add a zesty counterpoint to the bitter dark chocolate. A hazelnut and bitter almond-flavoured frosting adds a delicious frangipane-like crunchy topping.

Flamigni panettones take three days to make. This may sound like a long time, but they make every hour count. The dough is slow-leavened for an exceptional texture when baked. Each panettone is shaped and scored by hand. Flamigni don’t compromise on ingredients either, sourcing only the best quality ingredients no matter where in the world they have to go for them.

Chocolate and orange is a well-loved combination, and is perfectly suited to the fluffy, vanilla scented panettone. Serve with a little whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon for a change from Christmas pudding. A cup of strong coffee with a small glass of orange liqueur are an indulgent way to round off the festivities!

Flamigni started in 1930 as a pastry and coffee shop in Forli, in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. Three brothers, Armando, Lieto and Aurelio Flamigni saw great success with their traditional Italian pastries. It was Marco Buli, son-in-law of one of the Flamigni brothers, who encouraged the company to expand. They started to make nougat and eventually panettones, bringing their passion for innovation and high-quality ingredients to every aspect. They sum up their philosophy in the following way: ‘At Flamigni we’re at home to innovation, but only if it comes with improvement’.

Ingredients: Panettone wheat flour, candied orange peels (19%) (orange peels [52.5%], glucose-fructose syrup, saccharose, concentrated lemon juice), butter, sugar, egg yolk, dark chocolate (7%) (sugar, cocoa paste, cocoa butter, emulsifier: soy lecithin, natural vanilla flavour), natural mother yeast, emulsifier: natural mono and diglycerides of fatty acids of vegetable origin – sunflower lecithin, invert sugar syrup, salt, wheat malt, natural flavours, Madagascar vanilla extract Icing sugar, egg whites, hazelnuts, apricot kernels, rice flour. Contains allergens: gluten (wheat), milk, soya, eggs, nuts.
