Description
Organic chestnut flour, also called farina dolce in Italy, is a naturally sweet gluten free flour. It used to be an important source of nutrition for poorer village communities in Italy and France, but it’s now considered a delicacy.
Use organic chestnut flour to roll your own chestnut pasta. The nutty, slightly sweet chestnut pasta pairs well with peas and ham, and creamy mushroom sauces.
Chestnut flour is also the essential ingredient in castagnaccio – a traditional cake from the Liguria region of Italy that’s completely gluten free. Or swap half of the regular flour for chestnut flour when making a dark chocolate cake or pudding – the finished results will be slightly denser, but the combination of dark chocolate with nutty chestnut is a winner.
ALPA started in 1960, when the Gualtieri family decided to make the most of Calabria’s chestnuts. They specially select the best chestnuts to make their flours, pastas and condiments.
