Born in Santa Barbara to Italian immigrants, Valentin Tramontina journeyed to the Brazilian city of Carlos Barbosa in 1911 looking to set up his own business. Valentin rented a piece of land on which to set up his own small workshop and iron mill, and dedicated himself to producing high quality, reliable and durable products. Today Tramontina’s headquarters are still in Carlos Barbosa and is still in the family, with Clovis Tramontina the current president.
