Terre Exotique’s zaatar - also known as zatar, zahtar, and za’atar - seasoning brings a lemony zing to flatbreads, marinades and hummus. Originating in Byblos, Lebanon, this spice mix is made with just five ingredients, with golden sesame bringing a nutty tang and a citrusy kick from sumac.

Aromatic and slightly salty, this Middle Eastern seasoning is traditionally served with olive oil as a dipping sauce for bread. Alternatively, sprinkle over labneh, or follow Yotam Ottolenghi’s lead and use it as an alternative for black pepper when making indulgent cacio e pepe.

This 500g bag is ideal for professional kitchens – the zaatar seasoning comes in opaque packaging, protecting it from light and preserving the fresh flavour, while the flat base makes it easy to store.

The company was founded by Erwann de Kerros, a Breton and seasoned traveller.
