Tabasco red pepper is a Louisiana hot sauce with a cult following. This classic pepper sauce is made with three ingredients: peppers, vinegar and salt. The ingredients age in oak barrels for up to three years before bottling. Rating 2500-5000 on the Scoville Heat Scale, this sauce is hot but not overpowering.

Use this versatile red pepper sauce to liven up all your dishes. Add a dash to your bloody mary, sprinkle over oysters, use it to jazz up guacamole, put a splash in your mushroom pies to bring the heat or shake it over chicken wings for a fiery finish.

About Tabasco

Tabasco has been making hot sauce on Avery Island, Louisiana for over 150 years. The brand was founded by Edmund McIlhenny in 1868. McIlhenny first created Tabasco as a way to add some flavour to the otherwise bland diet of the time, and the original recipe is still followed to this day.

McIlhenny sowed the seeds of Capsicum frutescens peppers and delighted in their spicy flavour. He later used a little red stick to check the ripeness of the peppers, and this traditional technique is still used today to ensure the quality of the harvest. Tabasco sauce is – and has always – been packaged in bottles with a filter, as the hot sauce is designed to be sprinkled, not poured.

Ingredients: Distilled Vinegar, Red Pepper (19%),Salt.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place.
