How we buy the best ingredients

We only stock what we love. Every single product we sell has been tasted by our team of flavour experts - if it doesn't taste great, or if it isn't a great example of its type, then we don't list it. Only 1 in 10 make it.

You'll discover something you haven't tried before. A small family producer in Italy may make the most vibrant, expressive olive oil, but their expertise is olive oil making and not marketing. You may never hear about them. We're here to change that.

Authenticity. You'll find the same brands at Sous Chef as in a Korean, Japanese or even Caribbean supermarket. Not the version that's been produced to be similar - but isn't qulite what you remember from that favourite holiday.

We only buy direct from trusted producers. Every aspect of our suppliers' storage, production and distribution is checked by us. Many are rejected if they don't meet our quality standards. So that you know you'll always receive safe, high quality food. We do not allow third party resellers on the website.

We tell you the shelf life. At the bottom of each product description, you'll see the best before date for the item you're adding to your cart, so you know if it'll be in the best condition when you plan to use it.
