Yukishino Tonsui Bowl, 13cm

Description

The Yukishino tonsui bowl is glazed in neutral colours that hint at a serene snowscape. It is an elegant addition to any dinner table, especially if you’re serving a Japanese-themed meal. In Japan, tonsui bowls are traditionally used to serve a light dipping sauce with freshly fried tempura. You can make a classic tentsuyu dipping sauce at home by combining mirin, soy sauce and dashi.

Tonsui bowls are also used when serving nabe, a type of Japanese hot pot where ingredients are cooked at the table in hot dashi broth. Once the ingredients are cooked, diners scoop them from the pot and place them in their tonsui bowl. The bowl can also be used to serve side dishes like salads, pickles and steamed rice.

As is customary in Japan, this piece is intended to be mixed and matched with other designs. Discover our full range of Japanese tableware.
