Nuri Mackerel in Olive Oil, 125g

Nuri mackerel in olive oil makes for a speedy and delicious toast topper. The mackerel is canned with olive oil and salt, giving the fish a rich, well-rounded flavour. Mix these Portuguese mackerel fillets through mashed potato, then deep-fry in balls to make potato croquettes. Serve with a simple tomato dipping sauce. 

Nuri is one of the oldest – and most iconic – brands of Portuguese tinned fish. The name Nuri comes from the Arabic word for ‘my light’, and this is what a customer exclaimed when they first saw the shiny sardines in the tin. The artisanal production process is steeped in tradition, with 37 steps required to produce a single Nuri tin.
