Description

Use this Cool Chile Co Cowboy Pinto Bean Kit to create authentic frijoles de charros. Named after traditional Mexican horsemen, or ‘charros’ these spiced pinto beans will bring a taste of Mexico to your home!

To get started you need one small onion, one garlic clove, ½ tin tomatoes and a neutral cooking oil such as rapeseed and you’ll be good to go. The set includes pinto beans, chiles de árbol, smoked paprika, a bay leaf and a recipe card with an additional bonus recipe.

Spiced Pinto Beans Cooking Instructions

Serves 4

  • Cook beans with chiles de árbol, smoked paprika, onion and tinned tomatoes.
  • Cooking time approximately 2 ½ hours (no need to presoak the beans)
  • Serve topped with poached eggs, topped with chipotle powder and warmed cool chile corn tortillas.
