Calasparra Paella Rice DOP, 1kg

Description

Calasparra paella rice is an absorbent small-grain rice used in paellas. The Calasparra  paella rice takes its name from the Calasparra region where it’s grown, in South East Murcia - which has been awarded a DOP (Protected Denomination of Origin) thanks to its unique rice-growing conditions.

Mountainous Calasparra is the only Spanish region where rice is grown above sea level. This cooler climate means that the rice takes 30% longer to ripen, giving Calasparra paella rice time to develop the flavour which has earned Calasparra the reputation as one of the best paella rices in the world. Colour with saffron or squid ink for traditional Spanish paella or arròz negre.
