Sabor red malagueta peppers are sweet and tangy. These peppers rate 50,000 – 100,000 on the Scoville heat units scale - in comparison to jalapeños which range from 2,500 – 8,000 - making them very hot!
The malagueta pepper originated in Brazil, and is popular in hot sauces. Here, they are preserved in salt and vinegar.
As well as being used in hot sauce, malagueta peppers are popular in stews, soups or to add fiery heat to salsas.
