Meet the maker: Ichendorf Milano
Ichendorf Milano's story began more than a century ago in Quadrath-Ichendorf, a small town near Cologne, Germany, where skilled glassmakers created elaborate, decorative glassware. By the 1950s, tastes were changing, and so was Ichendorf. The ornate designs gave way to simpler, cleaner shapes, with the beauty of the glass itself taking centre stage.
In 1990, the company's design studio moved to Milan, bringing a distinctly Italian creative spirit to its glassmaking heritage. Today, Ichendorf works with international designers to create glassware that's beautiful and playful. It's this combination of traditional glassmaking knowledge and imaginative contemporary design that makes Ichendorf such a joy to collect.
