Himalayan pink salt is a remarkably pure salt, harvested from ancient sea beds which date back to the Jurassic era 250 million years ago. It is a halite, or rock salt, also known as Sendha namak. Himalayan pink salt crystals are shaped like tiny pebbles, with a gem-like quality – not unlike rose quartz. They are hard, unrefined crystals, so should be used with a salt grinder, or pestle and mortar.
