Hatcho Miso Traditional 18 Month Matured Miso, 400g

Description

Hatcho miso is a rare type of miso paste. It accounts for only 0.2% of the miso production in Japan. It’s made with premium soybeans that undergo natural fermentation for 18 months. The result is a dark and velvety miso with strong umami flavour.

Hatcho miso has a distinctive taste with notes of coffee and cocoa. Rich and full-bodied, it adds depth to stews and sauces. You can use it to make traditional miso soup and hot pot dishes.

Miso can be used in place of salt in Western recipes. Add it sparingly to a red wine sauce or a slow-cooked beef bourguignon. It’s also used in baking, often paired with chocolate in brownies and pastries.

Store in a cool, dry place. Refrigerate after opening.
