Flamboyant English breakfast tea is just what you need to start the day right – bright and robustly flavoured, yet mellow and not too bitter for first thing in the morning. It’s a blend of black teas with Assam providing the main flavour.
Some speculate that the so-called ‘English’ breakfast tea blend may have had its origins in Scotland. The story goes that Queen Victoria tried the blend while staying at Balmoral in 1892, and she enjoyed it so much that she brought it back to London. It soon became the fashionable tea of choice for all of Victoria’s loyal subjects.
For best results, brew the loose-leaf tea in a teapot with a removable infuser. Use just-boiled water and infuse for 3-5 minutes. Enjoy with milk and/or sugar according to your preference.
