Description

Dried osmanthus is a popular ingredient in Chinese cooking and medicine. The flowers are harvested in late summer and then dried.

The dried flowers are used to make a fragrant tea. It can be enjoyed on its own or mixed with green tea. The tea has a delicate floral flavour and apricot-like aroma.

Serve the tea hot, cold or over ice. It’s particularly refreshing on hot summer days. You can add a little sugar or honey for extra sweetness.

Dried osmanthus is also used to flavour cakes and desserts. Use the dried flowers to make jellies, creamy puddings and sponge cakes.

Try adding the flowers to sugar syrup to make a unique infusion for cocktails.
