Five spice seasoning is a fragrant spice blend used in Chinese cooking. This blend is made with cinnamon, anise, cumin, coriander powder and Sichuan pepper.

Sichuan pepper adds a subtle tingly heat, while cumin and coriander have an earthy flavour.

In the Canton area of China, five spice is used to flavour Cantonese roast duck and crispy pork belly. The aromatic spices are also fantastic in marinades for red meat especially lamb.

For a tasty marinade for roast chicken or duck, combine five spice with honey, light soy sauce, star anise, minced garlic and ginger.

Ingredients: Cinnamon powder (30%), anise powder (25%), cumin powder (20%), coriander powder (15%), Sichuan pepper powder (5%), liquorice powder (5%)
