Measuring Jugs

A measuring jug is an indispensable tool for cooking and baking. These vessels are essential for achieving accuracy in recipes and avoid mess going all over the work surface.

Glass measuring jugs are usually made in heat-resistant glass, allowing the measurement of hot liquids without breakage.

Measuring jugs come in various sizes, usually marked with volume measurements in metric and imperial measurements, as well as cup measurements to follow American recipes.

A small measuring jug will tend to have measurements in smaller increments than a large one, allowing for increased accuracy when using low quantities of an ingredient.

Some are also marked up to accurately measure dry ingredients like flour or sugar.

When making gravy, a separating measuring jug has a spout that pours from the bottom of the liquid, allowing unwanted fat to be kept out of the meaty liquid.
