 Shavuot scotch bonnet pepper powder adds fruity, fiery heat to curries, stews, rubs and marinades. Widely used in Caribbean cooking, scotch bonnet chilli peppers come in at 100,000-350,000 Scoville units, about 40 times hotter than a jalapeno pepper.

This spicy chilli pepper powder can be added to a Jamaican-inspired curry, rice and peas or brown chicken stew. For an authentic jerk marinade, add the powder to a mix of onions, garlic, ginger, pimento, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg and brown sugar. It will give a fruity flavour and intense spice to jerk chicken, pork or fish.

Use 1/4 teaspoon for the flavour of one scotch bonnet Jamaican pepper.
