Serax Black Marcel Mussel Bowl, 30.5cm

The Serax Black Marcel Mussel Bowl is shaped like an open mussel shell, complete with an asymmetrical edge and glossy black glaze. At 30.5cm long, it has room for seafood, olives or small desserts. Left empty, it becomes a sculptural object for a shelf or dining table.

Designed by Wouters & Hendrix, the bowl pays tribute to Belgian artist Marcel Broodthaers, who turned the familiar mussel pot into art. That reference gives the piece its wit, but the porcelain form remains useful at the table.
