Al’Fez Lebanese baharat, also known as Lebanese seven spice, is the classic seasoning for authentic Lebanese kibbeh and kofta. Kibbeh are deep-fried croquettes of spiced minced meat, bulgur wheat and onions. Kofta are similar – spiced minced meat and onions – but the mixture is either formed into meatballs or pressed into a sausage-shape around a skewer and grilled.
Lebanese baharat is a great all-purpose spice mix, too. Use it to put a Middle Eastern twist on a chilli con carne, roast chicken or roast potatoes. Rub white fish fillets with baharat and olive oil before roasting or grilling, or mix with a little honey or agave syrup and glaze roasted cauliflower.
