Description
Dunns River gungo peas are a small round legume and key ingredient in the Jamaican favourite, rice and peas. Gungo peas are also known as pigeon peas. The peas are high in fibre and protein, and they boast a delicious nutty taste. Drain the canned peas from the salted water before using, then mix with rice, coconut milk, salt and spices. Serve rice and peas with curry goat or brown stew chicken.
