Description

Preserved pickled mustard is a Chinese condiment with a tangy, savoury flavour. It originates from Sichuan, where it is known as zha cai.

This spicy, tangy pickle is made from the knobbly root of the mustard plant. It has an earthy, spinach-like taste with a spicy chilli kick.

Preserved pickled mustard is very versatile. You can add it to stir-fries, soups and hot pot. In China, it’s often served as a condiment for congee and noodles. Its bold flavour works well with tofu and pork dishes.
