Loison’s peach and Piemonte hazelnut colomba is a rich, sweet Italian cake traditionally enjoyed for Easter. Enriched with jewels of lightly-candied Italian peaches, world-renowned Piemonte IDP hazelnuts and Madagascan vanilla, this cake has a delicate balance of aromatic and nutty flavours. Its sweet fragrance and buttery richness fills the room when unwrapped. More toasted hazelnuts and white sugar sprinkles top the cake for a gentle crunch that compliments the light texture.

Colomba cakes are slow-leavened - baked on Good Friday to be  enjoyed with the whole family on Easter Sunday. Their golden colour and airy texture is much like a Christmas panettone, except the colomba traditionally takes the shape of a dove .

Enjoy a slice of this cake with a morning espresso for a luxurious breakfast, or with a cup of tea for a mid-afternoon treat. A colomba also makes a unique Easter gift, perfect  if you’re looking for something more imaginative than an Easter egg.

Loison - a family business founded in Italy by Tranquillo Loison -  has been baking panettone and colomba for over 75 years Today, his grandson Dario cares for the business. For Loison’s ‘top line’ colomba, panettone and pandoro, all the ingredients are carefully selected by Dario: the freshest eggs, butter and cream from Italy’s mountain farms, and fine Italian flours and sugar. Each yeasted cake takes 72 hours from beginning to end, which results in  their exquisite light texture and rich flavour.

Ingredients: wheat flour, candied peaches (15%), [peach cubes (49%), sucrose, peach juice concentrate, lemon juice concentrate], sugar, hazelnuts icing (12%) [sugar, egg white, sunflower oil, "Piemonte" PGI hazelnuts (3%). pre-cooked rice and wheat flour, natural flavours], fresh eggs raised on the ground, fresh butter (milk) (7%), emulsifier: mono and diglycerides of vegetable origin fatty acids, grains of sugar, (6%), fresh egg yolk raised on the ground, natural sourdough yeast (wheat), wildflower honey from Sicily, fresh cream (milk) (1%), fresh milk (1%), cervia whole marine salt, cocoa butter, natural mananara vanilla from Madagascar (0.1%), natural flavours.
